HKUST GBA Learning Trip 2025 – Shenzhen: First Stop of an Inspiring Innovation Journey!
We are thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of our first GBA Learning Trip in 2025, held on April 28, 2025, with 39 participants. This milestone event was proudly supported by the Funding Scheme for Youth Entrepreneurship in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, under the Youth Development Fund of the Youth Development Commission and the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau.
First Stop: Shenzhen – A Deep Dive into the Innovation Ecosystem
As the first station of our Greater Bay Area (GBA) exploration series, Shenzhen offered participants a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the city’s vibrant and fast-evolving innovation and technology ecosystem.
Throughout this inspiring journey, we visited several key innovation hubs:
Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth DreamWorks
We explored the latest startup-support policies in Qianhai, gaining insights into the cross-border entrepreneurial environment and how young founders are being empowered in the region.
VTech Electronics Ltd, Shenzhen
A guided tour through VTech’s production line allowed us to witness firsthand the advanced manufacturing processes and innovative technologies that drive this global leader.
Blue Bay, Shenzhen
This stop featured an in-depth program of industry sharing sessions and facility tours, showcasing how HKUST’s technology and knowledge transfer efforts are being integrated with local innovation resources to provide one-stop support for early-stage startups.
What We Gained
This meaningful trip not only broadened our understanding of GBA’s innovation landscape but also reignited our passion for entrepreneurship. We returned with fresh ideas, expanded networks, and a renewed drive to explore opportunities in the GBA.
