Gaining Entrepreneurial Insights from Our GBA Learning Trip
What an incredible two days exploring the Greater Bay Area on October 23-24, 2025! Our entrepreneur-focused journey was filled with innovation, culture, and collaboration. Here are the highlights:
We kicked off at HKUST Foshan Center for Technology Transfer and Commercialization, where we learned about the thriving startup ecosystem and supportive policies from the local government that drive innovation.
Manufacturer & Startup Sharing: In Foshan, we visited Foshan Linzhi Polymer Material Technology Co., Ltd.(佛山林至高分子材料科技有限公司), where we discovered groundbreaking innovations in polymer technology—particularly their ACF artificial cartilage bionic materials that absorb over 90% of impact forces and convert energy into heat, impacting industries like healthcare, automotive, and protective gear. Our visit to Guangdong CAS Angels Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (廣東中科安齒生物科技有限公司) offered a glimpse into the exciting world of biotechnology, where we engaged with entrepreneurs on novel therapies for chronic diseases and sustainable agricultural solutions.
In Guangzhou, we explored Miao Dao Zhi Neng (淼道智能科技), a healthy direct drinking water service provider; Calandx Technology (碳境科技), specializing in carbon nanotube conductive composite materials; KAYJA-OPTICS (凯佳光科), an enterprise focused on advanced optical technology and hard tech innovations; and Guangzhou SmarTech Automation Co., Ltd. (智科自动化厂房), which researches integrated metal additive and subtractive processing technologies.
At the HKUST Guangzhou Campus, we visited the information center and learned about the latest developments in various technologies at HKUST. We also invited two entrepreneurial teams from HKUST Guangzhou to share their experiences with us. This facilitated networking between the students in HKUST and HKUST Guangzhou.
Our trip wrapped up at the GAC Technology Museum, where we marveled at the evolution of automotive technology, from classic models to futuristic concepts. Interactive exhibits showcased innovations in electric and autonomous vehicles, highlighting the industry's shift toward sustainability.
This trip was a powerful exploration of entrepreneurship and innovation! A heartfelt thank you to all the organizations and individuals who made it possible.
